Rao V. Movva, M.D.

Rao V. Movva, M.D.

Dr. Rao Movva is Chairman and President of Heartland Clinic d/b/a Gastroenterology Consultants and President of Regional SurgiCenter. In addition to these duties, he is manager of  Valley View Anesthesia, Valley Laboratories, and Midwest Clinical Research, ancillary entities of Heartland Clinic.

His career as a specialized gastroenterological healthcare provider has emphasized organizational development, planning, team-building, and financial management.
Dr. Movva has first-hand experience incorporating related services into a medical practice. For more than 30 years, he has been an advocate of quality, cost-effective healthcare.

In 1980, he entered private practice and began performing office endoscopy to supplement revenue in 1985. After 11 years as a sole practitioner, he added providers while executing his plan to open an ASC at his office location. He is a founding member of the Mississippi Valley Surgery Center (in 1996) and served on the board of directors. As years passed and reimbursements decreased, Dr. Movva expanded his practice by adding specialty providers and created four ancillary divisions: clinical research, pathology, imaging, and anesthesia services. In an effort to better serve his patients, he has served as a leader in innovation and technology.

A native of Ventrapragada, India, Dr. Movva received a medical degree from Karnatak University in India. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at Jamaica Hospital in New York City.

Arvind Movva, MD

Arvind Movva, MD

Chief Executive Officer of Gastroenterology Consultants, Arvind Movva, M.D., joined the practice upon completion of his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Medical College of Georgia in June 2010. He offers a full range of gastroenterology care and procedures including ERCP/EUS, hemorrhoidal banding and cures for Barrett’s esophagus.
A sophisticated blend of science and technology can have enormous impact in those areas. “Radiofrequency ablation of precancerous change in the esophagus, knows as Barrett's Esophagus, can easily and safely reduce the risk of developing cancer,” he says. “Colon cancer is highly preventable by the periodic detection and removal of colon polyps via colonoscopy. And hemorrhoids, while not life threatening, can be significantly life altering. Today we have a painless, prep-less technique for eliminating hemorrhoids without any downtime and without the need for a patient to find a driver. This advance makes it unnecessary for anyone to suffer from hemorrhoids.”
Dr. Arvind Movva was born in New York City while his father, Dr. Rao V. Movva, finished medical training.  He moved to the Quad Cities with his family in 1980 and lived here until leaving for Boston University. Dr. Movva received his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois Medical Center, Chicago and a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Medical College of Georgia.
He and his wife are the parents of four children- Deva, Anjayya, Vishnu and Sita.  He enjoys travel, skiing, golf and is an avid sports fan.  His first work experience was at Gastroenterology Consultants, where he helped to clean beds, file charts, move patients, and clean scopes.

Linda McNamara RD, LD

Linda graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1984 and went on to do her internship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.  She has experience working with a wide range of individuals in regards to age and health conditions.

“I see my role as a facilitator of health, as a member of a team that addresses health and disease. Much of what we do is habit, and given that, it can be changed if desired.   As we know, what we eat can have an impact on health and when appropriate, I would help a client explore how to make changes so they can improve their wellbeing.”

The Quad Cities has been home to Linda and her family for over 18 years.  In addition to nutritional counseling, she has had the opportunity to teach exercise classes, primarily for older adults.  When not working she enjoys any activity the outdoors has to offer but in particular she likes to play and coach soccer.

She is a Registered Dietitian and is licensed in the states of Illinois and Iowa.
